The Dispute Board Federation's upcoming Intensive Dispute Board Training Programme and the Decision and Award Writing Workshop will be held as a four day combined intensive training programme this spring 2-5 May (Monday - Thurs) 2016 in Munich, Germany with a welcome cocktail reception being held the evening of Sunday 1 May, 2016.

The programme will be held at the upscale Hilton Munich Park Hotel in the center of Munich:

These two programmes will cover all aspects of how to run and administer a Dispute Board, and will also address writing an effective Decision and Arbitration Award. Together, they will help those who already have a basic understanding of the Dispute Board process to gain the necessary confidence in working with the common dispute board documents.

Like our FTIP course, this intensive programme offers a form of "masterclass" which gives the participant in-depth practical knowledge and problem solving scenarios from 4-5 trainers who are the current leaders in the dispute board field. The trainers' goal is to explain and illustrate the use and management, in a dispute board setting, of the various aspects of FIDIC contracts, including:

  • FIDIC Short Form of Contract
  • FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction
  • The FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build
  • The FIDIC Conditions of Contract for EPC/Turnkey Contracts are also covered in detail, using the Construction and Plant Contracts as the basis
  • FIDIC DBO Contract
  • Additional study includes familiarity with the ICC® and DBF® Dispute Board rules and procedures

This combined training is eligible for 32 hours of CPD credit. It should be noted that the Intensive Dispute Board Training Programme is applicable whether the participant's background is as a government official, employer, contractor, engineer, lawyer, or in representing employers, consultants or contractors.

If you are interested in signing up for this programme, please contact Claudia Cristian at to reserve a spot, or download a brochure for a complete programme description and registration form.

** There is a minimum of 15 participants for this programme, and a maximum of 20 participants.

About Chern on Dispute Boards, 3rd Edition:

This new 3rd edition of "Chern on Dispute Boards" examines the law of dispute boards and their development around the world, while also covering procedural topics that are of particular concern to those utilising them. It deals with advanced practitioner issues in the emerging law of dispute boards on an international scale.

This book guides the reader through the complexities of commercial and construction disputes and their successful resolution, and also presents a way forward for the dispute board members themselves to administer dispute boards all over the world. It is therefore the number one guide for engineers and construction lawyers, as well as dispute board stakeholders worldwide.
